Standard Terms of Engagement Agreement
Recreational and Non Survey Vessels

A terms of engagement agreement for services between a marine surveyor and a client/customer is a critical piece of documentation that seeks to assist all parties to ensure they understand the services the surveyor is engaged to perform and the terms and price for the service.

It forms a legal contract to fall back on if either party does not hold up their end of the deal.  This document can be used in the case of a defined survey request or a quote for services.

A professional marine surveyor should provide a terms of engagement agreement to clients before undertaking a survey.  If your surveyor does not provide a terms of engagement agreement, AIMS has an agreement consumers can use in the process of contracting survey services.

The Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors does not accept legal responsibility for errors, omission or consequences of any action taken by members in relation to this pro-forma Terms of Engagement Agreement.
